Out of the Park Baseball 9 Review
13 out of 15
Out of the Park Baseball 9 is the single best text-based sports game on the planet, bar none.

Likewise, this game remains the absolute champion of online league play. In Out of the Park Baseball 2007 the game’s online league features had already made it a best of breed as virtually every offline league customization or gameplay mechanic I’ve already described carries over to the online game. All the tools you need to manage an online league, too, are all in place. The one new feature that truly benefits online leagues, and it’s a wonderful addition, is the ability to watch a replay of a simulated game rather than get stuck with only a game log or box score to find out how your team did on the field.

There just aren’t many complaints you can have with a game that is as deep, complex and thoroughly engrossing as Out of the Park Baseball 9. Sure users of Out of the Park 2007 (or OOTP8) may not find the $40 price to their liking for an upgrade that doesn’t include much in the way of got-to-have-it new features, but with a game like this, what more is there to add? Only the inclusion of some kind of graphical in-game interface (ala the old Microleague games) or a complete retooling of the UI could do anything to make a dramatic improvement to an otherwise one-of-a-kind game.

Out of the Park Baseball can be purchased at the company website .
