Mercenaries 2: World in Flames Review
10 out of 15
Mercenaries 2 comes close to delivering what a sequel to a great game should be.

It was fine and dandy the second time through, but 45 minutes of playing time was wasted for nothing. Driving along in a vehicle and having it suddenly explode is not unheard of nor is having the factions that are supposed to be friendly to you and on your side, suddenly open fire on you as you run past them. It can be a tough pill to swallow when one of the glitches pops up and spoils your game, but given the length of the game compared to the minimal frequency that they appear, it is tolerable – not forgivable - but tolerable.

Mercenaries 2 takes the huge open world and the destruction of the original game and cranks it up more than a few notches. Everything is bigger, better and louder and although it can get repetitive very early on, once the second half of the game is reached, it begins to pick up momentum and powers ahead, firing on all cylinders. The game delivers entertaining - although sometimes frustrating, sometime hilarious and sometimes jaw dropping gameplay, and with a small bit of patience, it ends up being an amusing and for the most part, an enjoyable experience.
