All of this brings us to the main problem of the game, namely that there doesn't feel like there's a reason to keep playing. If you fail enough, and get red three red X's, you start over. If you win every event you compete in, you start over. The only real difference between failure and success is that if you keep succeeding, your total winnings keeps going up and up and if you fail completely, you start over with nothing. Everything else is completely the same, which takes away most of the motivation to keep playing. There are mini-game specific challenges like winning 10k at Plinko, but completing the challenges doesn't get you anything.
Visually, the game is a mixed bag. The various games are modeled well and many items are represented with photos of the real thing, however the character models for the contestants are some of the scariest character models you'll ever seen with the young male looking like a smack addict. The game sounds fine, but really, The Price is Right hasn't sounded right since Johnny Olson passed away.
With all of the mini-games, it will take several passes through the game to play them all, however the fun factor drops off pretty quickly, so you may not want to stick around for that last round of Hole in One. If you find yourself surrounded by fellow The Price is Right junkies, you can bust out the multiplayer mode which has you passing the DS back and forth so that you can all compete in the various contests. Whoever ends up taking home the most cash wins.
For all the game does right to give you a taste of what it's like to compete for A NEW CAR, the game just isn't very much fun to play. Absolute fanatics will undoubtedly get more out of the experience than casual gamers or puzzle game fans but even they will probably end up calling it quits before playing every game. It's a shame because successful game show games means we'll eventually get the Card Sharks game we so richly deserve, but for now, take a pass on this one and remember, to always spay and neuter your pets.
