And to be honest, that's about it. A lot of the other changes provided by this expansion are more under the hood in the form of careful balance tweaks, noticeable AI adjustments, and little enhancements to the graphics engine and modding system (with a new capacity for 'stacking' multiple mods together and freely use cosmetic-only mods online without needing to send them to other parties first, options sure to elicit much popularity). Ironclad has really gone out of its way to closely gauge community feedback and implement changes and updates to help improve the gameplay, which is a level of dedication I find truly commendable (along with their firm "anti-DRM" stance).
While this is still a beautiful, well-balanced, incredibly addictive game made only better by any kind of addition, the fact that we only get some new units and a moderate tune-up somewhat nullifies the amount of punch a release like this could have. But before getting stuck on that train of thought, I have to sit back and consider that not only is this pack going for a dirt-cheap cost, but also the facts that it offers enough new content to still be interesting, will likely be the subject of a barrage of future updates and enhancements from Ironclad, and is an integral part of the developer's long-term strategy to provide a wave of thorough additions for the game well into the future.
With this in mind, I can't help but recommend Entrenchment as a must-buy expansion. While I badly want to see larger-scale enhancements to the gameplay for future expansions, the amount of content in this release still balances very well against its cost, and those 'turtle'-styled RTS gamers (guilty here) hesitant to get onboard Sins of a Solar Empire due to the lack of any real defensive options will now have a great reason to pick it up.
