If you enjoy the new Dynasty Warrior titles, you'll likely enjoy Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2. The tried-and-true Dynasty Warriors formula of releasing a sequel with ‘a few minor changes and a whole lot of the same’ remains intact.

But what about those of you who are coming in fresh? If that's the case, this is easily the superior of the button mashing Gundam games; it might be the best Warriors game yet, assuming you don't mind giant robots, characters from the numerous Gundam series, and outer space in lieu of Lu Bu and the rolling green countryside.

Like every other title in the franchise, Gundam 2 revolves around players being thrust onto a map, with the basic goal of kill-everything-that-moves. To do so, players utilize melee, ranged, and special attacks, as well as combos. The game offers a variety of characters and mobile suits to choose from, yet ultimately each character plays exactly the same.

So what's new? Perhaps the most hyped inclusion is larger enemies, who appear as boss fights throughout the missions. These guys are bigger than anything in a Dynasty Warriors title … yet they feel horribly out of place. The first couple of times you fight a boss? Sure, it's fun, exciting, and a challenge. But once you get used to it, boss fights slow down the flow of the game, which is what makes this franchise so much fun to play in the first place. Thankfully, boss fights are few and far between, so you don't have to worry about multiple encounters on each map. A good idea, but it could have been implemented better.
