Sniper: Ghost Warrior Review
5 out of 15
Even at the low price, Sniper is a tough sell.

Multiplayer is like a bad camping joke. There are only three modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and VIP- without any level progression or unlocks. As you might expect, the game plays out pretty much how a Bad Company 2 game with everyone playing Recon kits might. Expect lots of hiding and waiting for some idiot to get bored and step out of cover. I tried the multiplayer several times, but I quit early every game. It was frustrating, completely un-fun, and frankly boring.

To City Interactive’s credit, they announced a major patch for the game immediately after its release. However, as of this writing, that announcement was over a month ago and the Xbox 360 patch has not yet released. After considering the fixes present in the PC update, I do not feel that there is anything that would raise the score of the game. It’s simply a tired, cheap rip-off of better games regardless of any technical fixes. Better AI and improved stealth mechanics aren’t enough to fix failed concepts and poor game design.

Even at a commendable budget price and with the developer’s commitment to support the game, I can’t recommend Sniper: Ghost Warrior. Even as a cheap stopgap, the game is sure to disappoint all but the least discerning fans of the genre.
