Micro transactions in games is nothing new. Many games in the past have allowed gamers to cough up real cash to buy little extras in game that give the player a sense of uniqueness or something worth while like map packs. According to xbox360fanboy.com , it seems in Battlefield: Bad Company is trying something a little different. In the recent beta for the game, there are 10 weapons that are marked "available for purchase on Xbox Live Marketplace". While 5 of the weapons are also available with purchase of the gold edition or for purchase separately, it seems EA is taking the idea of Micro transactions and players having the ability to buy extra content for real cash to a whole new level.
