Project Natal Officially Known As "Kinect"

At the Microsoft Project Natal – Cirque du Soleil - event on Sunday night at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, it was revealed that Project Natal is now to be known as Kinect. Even though it was known from day one that Project Natal was just a code name, there were those who had started to get attached to the name. Previously the name “Wave” was thought to be the new moniker – which was met with a pretty "meh" reception. Thankfully “Wave” is not the official title and Kinect is what you will be hearing over and over throughout the week.

During the chaotic event, there were also some titles shown such as Kinect Sports, Kinectimals – which allows you to play with and interect with virtual animals. Think Eye Pet and Nintendogs rolled into one controller-less game. Other titles were JoyRide and a Star Wars demo which had storm troopers getting their tin can butts handed to them with a Nata…wait…Kinect controlled light saber.

We'll see what else Microsoft has up there sleeves this week and if there are any official annnouncements on titles that will be available for Kinect as well as an official price point and release date.

More info on what's new in the game and in retail packages available for pre-order right now.
