Prelude:

When you enter the cathedral, this first part will be just a tutorial to get you started on your way. Go around the floor and collect the crosses. Smash the statues and examine the large angel statue in the center to get a few more. All in all you should get about 325 of them. When you are ready, walk over to the gate and you will be told to find another way up to the second floor. Go to the left side of the room and double jump up on top of the confessional booths. From there grapple up to the platform ahead of you by pressing right trigger and B. When you reach that platform, grapple over to the chandelier by pressing Right trigger and B again and right and the A button to jump off to the right side. When you land, go up the stairs that are right in front of you for a scene to start.

Mr. Hyde

Hyde is just a big pushover really and you are meant to beat him easily. Simply give him slashes with the tojo blade and hop out of the way when he goes to attack. You can also just stay out of the way and shoot him with the pistols since they do a fair amount of damage and jump when he gets in close to you. After you disarm him, a scene will play and the game begins for keeps.

Mission One: Vaseria Village

After the scene ends and you get off the train, you will be shown that you can destroy barrels and boxes and such to find items. Make sure you get the white cheat glyph that is hiding behind the wagon. When you do that, follow the path where the ghost went. After you walk a bit down the path, you will come to a broken bridge with a crane hanging above it. Hop down into the ravine below the bridge and use the winch where the yellow spot is lit up. When you do, the crane above will turn and it will be in a different spot. Over in the corner behind the water fall is a door to check out but ignore it for now since you won’t be able to open it until you play through the game again Jump back up the ledges to the top of the bridge again and grapple over to the far side. Continue down the path and you will come to an area with an iron gate on the far left, a small house atop a hill and a wooden gate to the far right. The door on the small house has a yellow mark on it which indicates it can be opened by other means. Once you have the shotgun, you can return here to blow open the door and retrieve the half of the life increaser when you enter and grapple to the top floor.

Also in this area will be some skeletons that come alive and a pedestal that has “an egg shape cup” on it. You won’t need to bother with these pedestals for now, but later on in the game you will find easter eggs that you can use on them to play mini-games. Kill the enemies and go to the wooden gate on the far right and go through. When you enter the town, kill the skeletons that appear and go between the two houses down the alley there. Go down the stairs to the next area and you will be ambushed by more skeletons. Kill them and head up the stairs and around to the left. When you come to the next area there will be of course more skeletons and an open window to grapple up to. After you kill them all, grapple up and grab the shotgun from off the table and jump back out. Go to the wooden door with the yellow dragon/bird design on it and shoot it to blow it open. When you enter a scene will play and a mysterious hooded person will attack with the name of ???? . I wonder who it could be.

????:

This guy will take you down in two seconds if you let him grab you. To easily defeat him, swipe at him three times with the tojo blades and then roll or jump back and out of the way. Let him do his blowing move towards you and then rush him again and swipe another three times and get out of the way. As long as you get out of the way after each three hits he’ll never touch you. Once he is dead, the mission ends.

Mission Two: Versia Church

As soon as the mission starts, there is a drawbridge that is up and a pit underneath it. Hop down and kill the skeletons there if you want the extra glyphs. If not then you will need to shoot your grapple over to the level on the left side of the bridge and give it a tug to lower the drawbridge. When it comes down, head across and square off against some more skeletons. Follow the street around and you will eventually come to an iron gate. Go through it and you will enter a small courtyard with a well in the center and a wooden door on the right with another iron gate that has some goodies behind it. When you enter the area, 4 gargoyles will attack you and they can be a handful to deal with. When they are flying around, you can grapple one and bring it towards you and start filling it in with the tojo.

That is your best bet, to keep punching them and keep punching them even when they are on the ground. Once you kill one then they start to get easier. When you have all four dead, jump down the well and grab the egg at the bottom. Grapple out and shoot the wooden door on the right with the yellow mark and go through for a short scene. When you are back in control, gargoyles will appear one at a time and attack you. Kill them until no more appear and there will be a yellow puzzle door on the left. You won’t be able to open it with out a magic blade so head up the stairs to the health glyph and grapple up and over to the platform above. Walk up to the double doors after you destroy the boxes and barrels and go through for a scene of some devilish beauties.

Verona, Aleera and Demon Marishka

Verona I son the left and Aleera is on the right. You can attack both of them but you won’t be able to attack Marishka until they are both dead. Marishka will shoot out three types of electricity attacks at you but all three are easily prepared for by a sound it makes just before it hits. To avoid all three of the attacks, jump to the side when you hear the alerting noise and keep moving until the attack is over. When she isn’t attacking, you should be working on both the two women at once. Swipe at one and then jump over to the other when you hear the lightning attack about to go off and start to swipe at the next girl. When they both go down, Marishka will transform and start to fly around and attack. Her main attacks are to dive at you, spin her wings and shoot the lightning out at you. Easiest way I found to take her out was to keep jump away from her and just keep pumping her full of lead with the shot gun. When ever she dives, hop over her and shoot her as well as when she goes to spin her wings. Hop away from her and keep shooting. It takes a bit of time to so it this way but it works fairly well.

Mission Three: Igor

Take a look around the room you are in which is the library. Stand to the left of the ladder and take a swipe at it to make it to the side and to get your second half of your life increaser. Continue to read the books on the shelves and there will be a secret passage behind one of the stacks that will fall out to reveal it. Take a read of the books to the left of the secret a passage to read about a fellow vampire hunter family. Go through the secret entrance and it will take you through a narrow passage under ground out to the graveyard. Go up the stairs at the end of the passage and go outside. Walk up the stairs when you get outside and grab the crossbow on the right. Head through the door way at the top of the stairs and you will enter the graveyard itself.

A few giant ravens will swoop down to attack you and they can be a pain. There is an iron gate to open there that has two statues on either side of it. If you look at them you are told that it looks like a button but you can reach far enough in. Shoot it with the cross bow and the gate will open. Go through and another scene will play showing you another new enemy. These women are easy to take out with a few crossbow shots. When they are all dead, head up the creek. When you enter the next screen some gargoyles will attack you, first one at a time and then two at a time. Kill them all and hop up on the ledge to the right of the waterfall and you will be shown a grapple spot high up the edge on the other side.

Grapple over to it and follow the path around until the next area loads. When you enter, a few more banshees will attack you and there will be a statue in the center of the area. Kill all of them and then jump on top of the pedestal that the statue is on. Give the statue a whack and it will fall over creating a bridge. Walk across to the other side and up the path. The next area will have some sword swinging baddies that are easily taken out with the tojo blades. When they are dead, hop up the ledges at the waterfall and go around the rocks to have the show down with Igor.

Igor:

Igor seems to be a little tricky but he really isn’t. As long as you keep you finger on the right trigger for the entirety of this fight, you should do fine. Equip the cross bow and start firing at Igor. When he starts tossing down his fire bombs, start rolling all over the place. Stop and start firing your crossbow again when he stops throwing them. Keep your finger on the right trigger or else you will start taking heavy damage from the fire bombs. Keep up that same pattern of shooting crossbow bolts when he’s not dropping bombs and rolling around when he is. There is also a yellow speed boost glyph by the iron gate in the area that will also help you out maneuver the fire bombs.

Mission Four: Prince Velkan

For this rather short mission, you start in the graveyard where you exited out of and can go into the next area where the well is that you grabbed the easter egg from. For this short mission, all you need to do is follow Velkan through the village back to the entrance where you first entered back in the first mission. During the path back to the entrance, Velkan will jump out at you twice. Both times after you have gone down a set of stairs, all you need to do is shoot him a few times and he will run away again. When you finally reach the entrance to the village, the real battle begins. Since you really don’t need to be told how to get back to the beginning of the village, dealing with Velkan is equally simple.

Velkan:

To defeat the werewolf known as Velkan, equip the pistols and keep firing at him. All you need to do is walk backwards and let Velkan come after you. Keep firing non stop at him and walk backwards. When he starts to get to close, roll back wards and keep walking backwards. If you have a wall behind you then roll to the side and then go back to rolling backwards when he gets close. Always keep firing at him and don’t stop and Velkan will go down no problem.

Mission Five: Castle Frankenstein

Head along the path way and over the bridge to return to where you first entered the village. There will be the pedestal to place the egg as well as the small building at top the hill and the iron fence to the far left that is now open. Follow the tracks through the gate and along the path past the banshees until you reach a large castle. Open the doors and enter and you will come to a courtyard in front of a building. Head all the way to the right side of the building to grab half of a life increaser and a life replenish from on top of a carriage there. When you have them finish off the gargoyles and enter the castle. When you enter, there will be a short scene and then a rush of small creatures will attack you. Use the tojo blades when they are in a group and then switch to your pistols to finish them off when their numbers dwindle and they are kept at a distance.

When they are all dead, there will be a door under the stairs that you need the more powerful shotgun to get through. Head through the door on the left and kill the enemies in here as well. When you aren’t bothered anymore, shoot your cross bow at the hanging cross and the statue will rise showing you another destructible yellow mark that needs the super shotgun. Walk over to the left side of the room and double jump to the ledge above you. Walk to the center of it and you will be able to grapple across to the other side. Do so and go through the door there. Grapple across the room again and land on the ledge on the far side as well. Go through the open door there that is now open because you lifted the statue. When you are in the next room, make your way to the ground and kill the massive amount of little midget enemies and grab the shotgun upgrade that is in the corner. When you have it quickly exit and make your way back to the statue room. Shoot the box under it and an egg will appear in the fireplace.

Grab it and make your way back out to the main room and blow open the yellow marked door there to go through. Make your way down the hall and around the corner and go through the door with the red carpet. When you enter here you will be in another large room with a generator that needs to be turned on and a bluish white circle on it. Go through the iron gate and follow this hallway around to come outside. Jump up right above the door you came out of and there will be a yellow marked door to blast open and get a life replenisher. Once you have it hop down and there will be an egg pedestal beside the small hut. Ignore it for now and go inside the hut and there will be a lift that lowers when you stand on it. Now that you are deep in the laboratory, go through this large generator room to the door on the other side and you will enter a room with some glass green tubes. Stand in the center of the room and grapple up to the ledge there. When you go through the doorway at the top, it will take you to a pain in the ass fight with some creatures.

Kill them all by jumping back and forth across the area and shooting them with pistols as you slowly lower to the ground. When they are dead, make your way to the far end and grab the lightning gun from the balcony above you. Now that you have lightning gun, drop back down the hole you entered and go back to the first room with gears and the blue-ish circle on the wall. Shoot it with the lightning gun and the telescope platform will lower and there will be an easter egg on it. Grab it and head back to the second room with gears in it and the second blue-ish white circle you came across. Again shoot it with the lightning gun and the gears in here will start up. Enter the next room, where you grappled to the top above the circular platform, but this time when you stand on it, it will rise all by itself and lift you to the next level of the castle for a show down.

Dracula:

The first time you meet this boss he can be a bit over whelming but in reality he is one of the easiest bosses so far to beat. He has three main attacks that include ice pillars where you stand rising from he ground, a outward of energy that knocks you and rush move where he charges you and gives you an uppercut with an ice pillar. To easily avoid all these attacks, simple hold down the right trigger and walk around the edge of the room while firing your pistols at him. Fire using the alt-fire to start with and when it runs out use the regular fire until it builds up again. As long as you keep walking sideways around the room with out stopping he won’t hit you. However the only time he will hit you is when he does his charge attack, but thankfully he only does it once or twice. Simply walk around the edge of the room sideways while firing your alt-pistols and Dracula will drop in no time flat.

Mission 6: Frankenstein Cave

After the scene is over, grab the glyphs near you and hop over the stone ledge in front of you. When you land, start to take out all the floating skulls in the area with the lightning gun. There is a door up high at the top but you can’t go through until all the skulls have been killed so get to it. After you have destroyed them all, head to the left side of the room and hop up on the ledge there. Grapple up twice and swing over to the left. From the platform you land on, jump straight up and follow the passage way there through the door way. When you enter the next cavern, stay on the platform you enter onto and fire at the skulls on the opposite side of you. When no more appear there, grapple over and start to take out the skulls on the next platform across from you.

When they are all dead, some skulls will appear in front of the two doorways, one on the left and one on the right. There is also a yellow marked door down below on the ground that holds the “sick Van Helsing” cheat in it. When you are on the left side of the cavern after you have killed all the skulls, you will see two doorways. The one on the right will taker you to a weapon upgrade for the crossbow and a life replenish and the door on the left will take you to the next area. Again you will need to deal with some skulls but now they are electrical skull so the crossbow makes short work of them. Cross the bridge and hop across the gap to the ledge there. Hop up to the highest part of the ledge for a half of a life increaser and then grapple over to the other side and hop up the ledge there to find a stone wall that stands out from the rest of the cave. Shoot it with an alt-arrow and go through the open door to find Frank.

Frankenstein:

Frank can be a big brute if he gets a hold of you, but the best way to deal with frank is to mainly avoid him all together. When he charges you, just jump away and run around the cave. Fire your cross bow at him from the air every once in a while and when he is a bit of a distance away from you, but do not let him get close. There will come a time when Frank will do a spin move where his arms are out stretched and he twirls around. Wait for him to do that move and when he stops he will be out of breath and will stand still. When he does that hit the left trigger and hit him with as many alt-arrows as you can until he starts moving again. Just that one time should take out ¼ of his life off him. Keep continuing that pattern by jumping and staying away from him and nail him with the alt-arrows when he stops for a breather.

Mission 7: Return to Castle Frankenstein

Make your way left and through the passage to the set of stairs. When you get there, a scene will play and some bats will attack. Use the crossbow on them and make sure you kill all of them so that you can proceed. Head up the stairs and across the water to the small cave opening in the rock. Go through there and jump up the ledge to where the broken bridge is. Grapple across and go to the far left to enter a small opening where another easter egg is hiding. Walk back out and if you killed all the bats then grapple across to the opening on the right and enter the cave there. Walk through and there will be another short scene with Velkan as he runs away further into the caves. When you enter the next cave you will see a yellow sparkle. Walk up to it and grab your fancy new scimitars.

These work great against the bats and shadows that appear next. Go around the corner and take out the bats and hop up the ledges to come to another corridor and some shadow bats. Kill them and go through to the end of the passage and you will be back outside. Take a few steps and you will be shown the winding path up to the castle. Start your way up it and you will encounter three wolves. Take them out with the pistols, alt fire preferably and continue all the way up to the drainage system that you come to. Enter it and go through the courtyard of the castle to be attacked by a swarm of wolves. There are plenty of them, so keep moving and don’t let them surround you. When they are dead, grab the cheat glyph from the Lion’s mouth in the fountain and stand in the center of the courtyard and shoot your grapple straight up to get a life replenish. There is also a pedestal in the corner for the easter egg. Enter the castle through the large doors and you will be in another showdown with another wolf.

Velkan:

This time around Velkan seems a lot quicker and likes to hang on the walls. The best way I found to take this guy out was, keep firing at him with either the cross bow or pistol and switch to alt fire when you can when he is hanging on the wall. Stay on the other side of the room from him and he will make a bark noise when he is about to lunge at you. Since you are so far away, you have plenty of time to move out of the way and continue to fire at him again when he stays on the next wall. Basically if you let him not hit you, he will just bounce back and forth across the room while you fill his back with bullets. After he goes down, a short scene plays and you are back outside.

When you see the demon girl take Anna up to the tower, it’s safe to guess where you are going next. Enter the castle gates and there will be a swarm of wolves to deal. After they are dead or you just feel like running, head up the stairs and enter the door there. Kill the bats and shadows and shoot the yellow marked door with the alt shotgun to get a life replenish. Also hop off the edge where the grapple mark is to go to a lower platform and get the first half of a life increaser. Grapple back up after dealing with the bat there and head up the stairs. When you enter this next walkway, there will be wolves and a set of gears in the doorway on the left. Go in there and it will be an elevator that will lift you to the top and another show down.

Dracula:

Once again, it’s good old Dracula. You can use the same technique that you used last time until he gets to about half his health and then he retreats to the far wall and stays there. When he retreats, he will toss energy balls at you that you can easily roll or jump over to avoid and there is a wave of energy he sends out across the floor which, again, is easy enough to jump over. Let him have it with the pistols or crossbow and he will go down like last time only it takes a bit longer with his fancy new attacks.

Mission 8: Escape from Castle Frankenstein

Most of this mission is very simple. You will start of by being attacked by the midgets from the lab earlier, so using your lightning gun, you can take them out in one or two shots. Keep killing them so that you fill up your finishing move bottles as you are going to need to of them in a few minutes. Keep killing the midgets until they are all dead and then head down the stairs to the area where you fought the gargoyles and got the lightning gun earlier. Again kill all the midgets here and make sure you have those bottles filled.

Jump through the hole in the wall on the right and you will land down in the lab. Look in the green ooze to the side of the room and you will see the alt ammo upgrade for the lightning gun laying there. Grab it and go through the large doors and follow the passage way around through the halls until you come to the lift. Go up and exit the shack to the courtyard. When you are out there the two statues are there will come to life and attack. Now since you have the two finishing moves, use them on each statue to destroy them with ease. If you didn’t get the bottles full then you will need to attack each statue with alt-fire to damage them and it will take quite a while since they are pretty strong. The finishing move will kill them right away however. After they are dead, go through the gate the far end and a scene will play to end the mission.

Mission 9: Forest Path

This battle can be a bit tricky but it’s not bad once you figure out what’s going on. When the two women demons attack, they will either throw fire and ice at you or set the top of the coach on fire/ice. When they toss their attack at you, you can just roll to the side to avoid it and continue to hit them,. When they set the top of the coach on fire, you need to hop of the coach and jump onto the horses backs. Although when you are on the horses you can only attack with pistols, use the crossbow when you are on the top of the coach. It you get knocked off the horses, you will slide under the coach and there will be a cheat glyph there as well for you to grab. Keep jumping back and forth from the horse to the coach and vice versa depending on the attack that they use and they will go down fast. You only need to take out one of the demons for the scene to start playing. After the long scene, you will be in a battle with Velkan once again.

Velkan:

Once again you need to fight Velkan and just like every other time he uses the same attacks. Defeat him the same way you did the first time by walking backwards and rolling back when he gets to close and firing constantly at him. When he doe his lunge, jump over him and don’t stop firing. He’ll go down just as fast as he did the previous two times.
