Hold the Line:

As you enter the base on foot, you need to make your way forward and steal yourself a mech. There are two tanks roaming back and forth between you and a mech. Sneak up behind the first one that comes towards you by hiding behind the rocks to the left. Plant a charge to take it down and then make your way to the right side. Use the bushes there for cover as you sneak up on the next tank. Plant another charge there for it to take it out and run for the Prometheus when the patrolling mech is turned. Climb aboard and take out the tunnels and the mech. When all are down, there will be another Prometheus through the archway to deal with as well as a few more tanks.

Take them all out and continue around the path way to the landing zone. When you reach it, Foster will give you the choice of either keeping the landing pad clear or destroying the tunnels. I decided to keep the pad clear of enemies. You will have to deal with 6 or so light mechs until Foster tells you that the Icarus’ ETA is two minutes. Take out all the enemies you can find and eventually there will be two Prometheus’s that come out at once. Make sure you stay near some health and then take them on. Once they are destroyed, kill any remaining tanks or light mechs and walk on to the LZ to end the mission.

Gladiator Has Nothing on Us:

As you start, work your way around the other side of the proving grounds. Foster tells you to kill everything in your path and that’s what you shall do. Make your way through the water and trees and take out the tanks and the turrets on the base walls. When you come around the corner, you will get ambushed by a heavy mech that will run out in front of you. Take it down and then fire at the scaffolding in front of the main gate. When it falls, fire at the gray doors and blow them off the wall. Walk through and enter the base and Foster will tell you that there is a Talon dropship inside powering up. Make your way to the right since the door on the left will close on you. Kill the few small mechs and tanks that stand in your way to the next door and make sure you leave some of the supplies lying around.

You’ll need them on the way back out. When you have destroyed everything in your path on your way to the door, hop out and hack the panel to open the door. Walk through and there will be two small mechs and a crap load of tanks. Ignore them for now and hammer the dropship with machinegun fire until a scene plays showing it blow up. When it is toast, you can now clear out the room of enemies and head back out through the door you just came through. On your way back, there will now be two heavy assault mech in your way and they are pleasant company. Use the supplies when needed and plow your way through them. When you reach the other side of the arena, make a left up the hill and enter the door at the top. When you do a scene will play.

Against the Spiders:

When you enter the arena, the trap is set and you will beset upon by more than a few enemies. There will be 5 waves of enemies, the first two will be scout mechs and the other three will be small spider like robots. Once you reach the third wave, the spiders will enter and attack. There will be quite a few of them and they will jump and try to grab on to you to hack your mech much like you did with your battle suit. When the spiders do latch on, use the button pad to follow the commands to get them off. Each spider will drop either health or ammo and after a while there will be lots of it scattered about so you won’t need to worry about health much. The best weapon to use on these little critters is the machine gun. They move too fast for rockets to lock on and the plasma takes much too long to charge for these guys. Each wave of spiders includes more and more spiders but the fifth wave will have Alera enter the battle. After you are finished with the spiders, a long scene will play.

Skin the Cat:

When the mission starts, you will be back in your battle suit and in a city like the first level. There will be a few tanks and a Nova Cart wandering around the city for you to avoid. Take out the tanks if you like but avoid the cat for now. Head to the far South west corner and Nat and Foster will tell you that the defenses there are too tough to get through on your own. You need to go back to the city and hack the Nova Cat to get his mech. When you find him, just follow the green arrow to him, you will need to hack him when his defenses are down.

If he is shimmering blue when you go to hack him, it won’t work and he’ll fry you in no time flat. Stay hidden behind the buildings as best you can until you see his shields go off. When it does, run after him and latch on to the cat. Hack it and hop in it to take control of it. Once you are in control of the Nova Cat, head back to the gate at the South West corner and flatten all the tanks and turrets in sight. Once everything is dead, walk to the gate panel and hack it to open the gate. Go through it and you will be onto the last mission.

End Game:

Make your way forward a few steps down the street and 2 Mad Cats will come out to play. Take them down easily enough with the Nova Cat’s main guns and continue around the corner. Fight another Mad Cat there and after it is toast you will be told to proceed to the next gate. Head for it and you will have another Mad Cat and a heavy mech right after to deal with. When they are both toast, hop out of your Nova Cat at the gate and hack the gate panel to open it up. Climb back in and head through the open gate. Kill the turrets and tanks in here and then focus on the heavy mech stalking about. After you give him the what for’s, a scene will play and Nat will enter with a VTOL and drop off your battle suit in front in the gate. What ever you do, DO NOT step on it…like I did. If you step on the battle suit the mission will fail and you will need to start over. Hop into the battle suit and enter the large doorway.

Checkmate:

Hop out of the mech and enter the final arena to show down with one bad ass mech. To defeat this creep you need to pelt his head non-stop with laser shots while avoiding his attacks. He has three main attacks that he uses at first. The first is a plasma ball that he shoots at you which you, the second is a reign of fire from above that will come crashing down and the third is a slam attack which will knock you to the ground and leave you open for other attacks. All three of these attacks can be avoided by simply jetting out of the way to on side or the other. After you have pelted his head enough times, a scene will play and his head will be cracked open. There will still be a shield around it though and you will need to hack his mech to drop it.

Climb on his back and avoid his new attacks of flames and lasers. When you hack him, you will them need to hit the opening in his head square with a precise mortar shell to finish him off. If you don’t nail him in the head quick enough, the shield will come back up and you will need to hack him again to drop it. There will be plenty of shield and ammo supplies around the area that the VTOL will drop off for you, but chances are you will still need to do this battle a few times until you finally defeat him once and for all. Once he is dead, sit back and watch the ending and pat your self on the back for a job well done.
