Sound quality is well above the graphics quality. The voice acting of Elwes and Jay is really outstanding. Battle sounds during gameplay are only average, but do not hurt the experience. The music is most appropriate to the game setting, with lots of medieval instrumentation. Listen to the drunks in The Drunken Rat tavern for an entertaining ode-to-beer song.
Without a doubt the story and its execution by the actors are the best parts of The Bard’s Tale. If the actual gameplay had shown more innovation and been as solid as the story script, this could have been a truly great game. As it is, it must settle for simply good.
